(Windows) Compatibility Mode fallback
Starting with the 28/04/2016 update, PokeMMO packages an experimental software renderer for compatibility with environments which do not have OpenGL properly implemented. If a "Pixel Format Not Accelerated" exception occurs on startup, users will be prompted to fall back to compatibility mode.
It is highly recommended that you fix your operating system's drivers instead of using this. To do so, please see the generic "Pixel Format Not Accelerated" support article for Windows users.
If you are not able to fix your drivers because of compatibility issues, some additional information is found below:
System Requirements
OS: Windows 7+ (either 32-bit or 64-bit)
CPU: Requires an Intel Core2Duo (2006) or later / AMD FX4000/FX8000 (2011) or later (SSE2/SSE3/SSSE3 instruction sets)
Windows Vista and Windows XP are unsupported and will not function. If your PC is not compatible with the software renderer, the client will crash immediately on startup with a hs_err_pid log in your PokeMMO folder.
For other general system requirements, please see the PokeMMO Minimum System Requirements page.
Performance tips
Compatibility mode is slow. It requires a modern, fast CPU to have playable FPS. The following can help you get the most out of your setup:
64-bit Java Runtime Environments tend to perform around 10-15% faster than 32-bit JREs. If you are using a 64-bit Operating System, it is recommended to uninstall the 32-bit JRE and update to the latest 64-bit JRE available.
The recommended resolution of the client while running in compatibility mode is 1024x768. The maximum that we recommend is 1280x720.
It's recommended to toggle OFF the following options in-game:
Show Border Tiles
Show All Players' Grass Animations
Blend Overworld in Battle
Show Overworld in Battle
It's recommend to toggle ON the following options in-game:
Show FPS Counter
(NDS) Preload Follower Sprites
To limit CPU usage, adjust the FPS Limit option in the Video tab.
Disabling compatibility mode
To disable compatibility mode from inside the game client:
Enter the Settings Menu
Open the Video tab
Toggle off the "Enable Compatibility Mode" option.
To disable it from outside the client:
Navigate to the PokeMMO folder
Navigate to the config/ folder
Delete the main.properties file
